I wanted to start a thread for the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying that I will be running every other Friday. Our first non-demo night will be this Friday (11/20). I plan on starting around 7:30 or 8, depending on everyone's schedule, and going until about 10pm.
NEW Updated Roster:
Feel free to post in this thread about the game, any attendance problems, or character/adventure ideas. I have to say - I LOVE the dice system in the game. I will keep everyone updated on the sale date for the main box and the Adventurer's kit. Below is the site listing the products and info. See everyone Friday!

Just remembered. A good friend of mine's Bday is this friday. I'll be there untill about 9pm so that should get my character created and moving along with the story line. Unless this is incovienent for you. Just let me know.
Just to keep everyone updated, the release date will be the 23rd. Yes, that's next week. ;)
Please let us know if you want a copy of the game as soon as possible so that we can get your order in. We don't know at this time exactly how fast these are going to sell, so the sooner you let us know the more likely we'll be able to get you a copy next week.
I'll take one in two weeks. This week my hobby allowance is already spent towards the TK I ordered and possibly some skaven for mordheim. Havent decided yet :)
A release date is always good to know! And yes, Josh, leaving around 9pm won't be a big deal. I should be at the store around 5:30 and ready to help with character creation. We also didn't choose a party card/description yet - we can look into that tomorrow night.
The release is announced! We will be able to get some Adventurer's Kits within a week or so. Let us know if you would like to order one.
Details about the kit's insides were also posted on Fantasy Flight:
As threats to the Empire’s stability loom, some brave individuals step forward to lend their aid to the cause, while others are caught up in fate’s plans to find themselves facing perilous adventures.
With more than 50 action cards, 30 talent cards, 10 new careers, and much more, The Adventurer’s Toolkit expands your options and deepens your Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay experience! Game Masters, too, will find The Adventurer’s Toolkit extremely useful. New career sheets and talent cards can help the GM develop new and compelling non-player characters, enriching the Old World.
With The Adventurer’s Toolkit, you can now play as a sturdy Dwarf Ironbreaker, a formidable High Elf Sword Master, a nimble Wood Elf Wardancer , or as a downtrodden Ratcatcher with a small but vicious dog – or as one of the other new careers introduced. The Adventurer’s Toolkit let’s you face your grim and perilous adventures with more options than ever before!
Srsly... Ratcatcher!
That is all.
We need to get a group of commoners, ratcatchers, and agitators ASAP.
Will you be allowing class/race changes for next week's adventure? I'm planning on buying the main box and the expansion pack and thought I might get an itching to try another class after I learn more about them.
That will be fine, if people want to change their classes around based on the new box stuff. You could also keep your character and level into a different class. Still have to figure out how that works...
Had a great time last night guys! A lot of fun!
Yea, definatly a fun evening. I just wish I knew a little more about proper roleplaying. The only other group I've been in was more hack and slash so I'm not that knowledged in how to participate in a roleplaying encounter very well. If anyone has any tips or links to helpful sites, let me know.
I'm looking forward to the next session. I think things will move along much quicker. One thing that I noticed while reading this morning that could have helped (me atleast). If you use an action but fail to successfully use it, it does not go on recharge. An action card only receives recharge tokens when it is succesfully used. I had like 3 differant actions on recharge at one point, none of which had been successful! haha.
I just read through the rules for spellcasting and it's alot better than we thought. Channeling requires an action, but like we were saying, combats will last more rounds and he will have the chance to gain power and cast his spells. Casters also have the option of quick casting, channeling power and casting the spell in the same turn. If he uses this method, his spell casting attempt suffers one additional purple challenge die. So, he could channel power on his first turn and quick cast a low power spell, retaining whatever power he has left. Next turn, channel more power and quick cast a lower power spell, slowly building up a large pool for a devastating spell later on.
It's pretty quick and simple. I like it :)
Thanks to everyone for helping out with the rules system! One of these days, we will play the game and know everything without referring to the rulebook.
As far as roleplaying goes - I think you are a doing a great job, Josh. It is sometimes difficult to really get into a fantasy character, I find, but just because we are all joking and laughing doesn't mean you aren't roleplaying properly!
Just an FYI/reminder to everyone that we will be playing. Now that you have faced the perils of the forest (i.e. Giant Spiders), there will be a beastman herd to investigate. Why are they continuing to attack the lodge? What other horrors of Chaos will you encounter? What insanities will the barber-surgeon accrue?
So - we are slightly changing the days we are playing. We will be playing this Friday (1/8) starting around 6:30 and wrapping up around 9pm. From then on, we will play every two weeks. Typically, we will try to start between 6:30 and 7. See you guys Friday!
We still have a Carnival of Chaos to demolish in our next session!
After wrecking the Carnival of Chaos, the group is (hopefully - most likely?) heading north from Ubersreik to Stromdorf. Below is a preview of the town, published by the Fantasy Flight design team. Stromdorf will be the setting for the next published campaign, or at least a major hub for events.
For anyone possibly interested in running their own games, FF announced the Game Master's Toolkit. I will be picking one up soon - hopefully the GM screen will have useful information so I'm not constantly referencing the books! Of course, I will also be integrating the new items into our campaign. You can look forward to some fun loot!
Several players will not be able to make it for the game this Friday (4/2/10), so I will be canceling the session. We will resume again in two weeks (4/16/10)!!
I'm sorry the whole night is canceled. I have been bummed for the last two weeks thinking that I wouldn't have the opportunity to steamroll some vampires and chaos. Game on in two.
David
I'm not able to make it as well, so no worries. Better that we are all there for the finale to our Burgomeister shake downs.
There is a possibility that I may be a little late to the game tonight. Please feel free to start without me.
David
Sorry guys, I cant make it this friday. Izzy has a dress rehersal for ballet at Mainland High at 4pm and I'm not sure how late it will be running. I'll drop off my character card this tuesday when I come in for Mordheim.
No problem! Thanks for the heads up.
I won't be able to make it either. We are throwing a surprise retirement party for my father-in-law.
David
Not a problem, Dave. Since there will only be two of us left, I will officially cancel the game. I will probably be down at the store tonight anyway just to hang out, but I won't have to rush!
We are currently on hiatus due to the permanent loss of one member of the group and the temporary loss of another member. If anyone else is interested in joining up, feel free to post here, hit me up in the store, or post on FB.
Hey I am finally back from vacation. Just wondering if we are playing this Friday or next. I lost track of time while I was gone.
David
We would actually be playing a week from Friday, August 6. We can play through the Journey to Black Fire Pass adventure, which features all dwarven characters and a tour of the dwarven strongholds. I figure after that, we can decide to either continue WHFRP or see what everyone wants to do.
We are always looking for more players, too! If anyone wants to join our every other Friday group for some rousing adventures through the world of Warhammer Fantasy, let any of the owners know (especially me, Natalie!)
We are going to be playing Legend of the Five Rings this Friday (8/6/10). Our WHFRP group will morph into the L5R group with a few additions. Depending on interest, we will work out another night for WHFRP.
Dave, Ryan, and Josh - you are all heartily invited to join the group! We will be working on characters and going through the first part of the adventure on Friday night.
I have set up a new forum topic for the L5R game here: http://gvegames.com/content/legend-five-rings-roleplaying-game. We'll be using the thread for the same purpose as this one, announcing when we're playing and who can/can't make it.
Right now I'm leaning towards the waywatcher or trollslayer. I have to admit, that trollslayer was freakin awesome! I'll have to check out the classes in detail this friday. I'll be in a bit early. Did anyone have an idea on what kind of group we should form? Unfortunatly, I didnt see Angry Villagers as an option :( That would have been sweeet.
