For those of you who haven't heard, you should have...
Disney has just purchased Marvel comics.
Yes, I know what you're thinking, because I had the same reaction: 'This is a CRAAAAZY dream'. I assure you, you are not dreaming. It really happened.
I'm going to refrain from commentary until I hear more, but I will admit that my initial reaction was skeptical and that it has shifted towards optimistic as the day has gone on and I have heard more from both sides of the deal. My fears of a Mickey Mouse cameo in the New Avengers and a Dark Reign: Hannah Montanna series have been replaced with hopes for a quality Avengers cartoon series, some awesome Marvel rides at Disney World, and a return of the Gargoyles. In Stan Lee's words: "When you combine the best with the best, everyone wins!”

There's also a poll at Newsarama, which seems to indicate an overwhelming majority of 'Mixed Reactions', with negative reactions slightly outweighing purely positive ones.

And this editorial is completely unofficial, but pretty funny:

So, what do you all think?
Disney owns about 30% of all major media in America (no joke!) so I'm not TOO surprised at this move. I'm sure the higher ups at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure aren't too happy right now though!
Universal still has the rights for their Marvel stuff for a few years, I forget how many, after that I dunno what'll happen
I have to wonder what will happen to all those Marvel rides at Island of Adventure in Universal Studios...
